Loreto to La Paz Wild Coast

Wilderness finds our essence.

There is a place where mountains scratch the sunset. Islands romance the sunrise and whisper sweet seduction. There is a trip that follows this coast and accepts the invitation of islands. Two trips, actually!

12 days for experienced paddlers interested in a deep wilderness recharge of the spirit.

14 days for enthusiasts of dynamic water sea kayaking and remote islands.

Wild Coast Plus San Jose sample 12-day route

About a hundred nautical miles long, the mountainous coast between Loreto and La Paz is essentially roadless and the islands are seldom visited except by local fishermen.

5 Islands and a Coast sample 14-day route

The 5 Islands and a Coast Invitational Expedition will be challenging, but the best things often are. It might be the only time we offer this. The 5 Islands and a Coast route aims to visit some very remote islands including Isla Monserrate, Santa Cruz, San Diego, San Jose, and San Francisquito.

Did we mention that this is an expedition? These islands are exposed to swell from the badly misnamed Pacific Ocean, which enters the Gulf from the south. Landings may involve surf. This trip skirts rugged coastlines and embarks on crossings up to 10nm which could take 4 hours. It is exposed to wind. We carry all we need in our kayaks. Significant experience is required. So is a commitment to the wellbeing of the group. A sense of humor and adventure are highly recommended 😉.

Your reward? Expansive vistas, endemic species, curious geology, an absolutely unique experience, and a satisfying feeling of achieving something special.

If you’re interested, please paddle with us on a prior trip if you haven’t already, and let’s get to know each other.

Research and geology buffs, check out this research paper on storm deposits on nearby San Diego Island investigated by this trip’s lead guide Ginni Callahan.
