“Summer Course” is a weeklong summer youth program organized by Sea Kayak Baja Mexico. Schoolkids get to know the sea, learn why it matters, and develop practical life skills. This sponsor-funded program is an investment in the future of both young lives and our natural world.
With the belief that we preserve what we love and we love what we know, sessions on birds, whales, turtles, and other sea life build foundations of curiosity, concern, and understanding that we’re all connected.
Participants also learn water safety. Many overcome fear of the water to go snorkeling for the first time. Falling out of a kayak happens naturally in the team game of sardines, and other paddling skills are built through games.
Through the fun, friendships also form, and the young folks mention these as feeling deeply valuable to them.
