Safety and risk management are built into all of our courses. The following courses focus specifically on it.
3 hours on the Loreto waterfront
Includes permits & equipment
Capsizing calmly and knowing how to get back in with help is the primary objective of this short course. If you haven’t practiced falling out in a while, why not join us for a half-day Safety Review? We know how to make it fun! Well, most of it, anyway. The Safety Review is designed especially for those who have some kayaking experience but have never practiced falling out and would like to join us for a trip that requires it. If there is time to go on after accomplishing the primary objective, we can proceed to things like bracing for support, re-entering solo, tips for efficient paddling, or even starting to learn the roll.
6 hours on the Loreto waterfront
Includes permits and equipment
Start with a calm wet exit and getting back into your kayak, and proceed to things like bracing for support, re-entering solo, tips for efficient paddling, or even starting to learn the roll. Also learn how to help each other get back into a kayak, and move to shore with support. Similar to the half-day Safety Review, but longer! This means more practice, more time to consolidate the skills, and additional skills. This is a full day of being in & out of the water, so it also takes more energy.
2 days on the Loreto waterfront
Includes permits and equipment
This course provides you the skills and strategies to solve common paddling issues in a sheltered water environment, offering peace of mind when venturing out onto the water. It is particularly valuable to do as a custom event if you are training guides for your organization, as it helps to clarify safety protocols within the team. We will use a variety of watercraft including open kayaks (SOT), sea kayaks, paddle boards, and open canoes.
Paddlesport Safety & Rescue Training is included on Sea Paddler Trainings. This is an official British Canoeing course which includes certification upon completion, if desired. (Course material link)
