Mulege to Loreto Expedition

(add registration link)
Let adventure take you on the route less traveled! This journey along the coast north of Loreto features unique rock formations, small fishing villages, and Isla Coronados.

Remoteness protects this area. Because its not in the Loreto Marine Park, spearfishing and shellfish gathering are permitted here. Marcos, Ramon and Jorge, excellent waterman that they are, often add fresh seafood to the menu.

Punta Pulpito, one of the crux moves of the trip, is notorious for its drama, both in sea state and in geology. Because most of the beaches are exposed to the north, surf landings are common here, and the sea can be rough. In the past several years, we’ve only completed this route as a “Builder” once. So we promoted it to Expedition!

For a more accessible peek at this coastline and Isla Coronados, see the 6-day Coronados Coast Builder. If you were on one of the many trips that missed the last section of this coast, here’s your opportunity to finish it!

Isla Coronados is the final treat along this route. It’s a 16,000 thousand year old volcano cone with white sand beaches off its SW side. Sea lions haul out on the rocks on the other side, and are accustomed to visits. They like to swoop up below below your kayak and look up with big, round eyes. Feeling ambitious? Tackle the challenging hike up the loose terrain of the volcano for a panoramic reward.
