A night under the open sky!
How cool is it to spend a night on a desert island!? Enjoy the panorama of the Baja night sky. Savor a dinner with the appetite of the open air. Dip your toes in the sea and feel the open possibilities before you.
Depending on your experience and desired level of challenge, you could paddle to the island and back, or get dropped off and picked up by motor boat. Either way, we spend time the first day covering safety and steering basics. Our guides are also certified coaches, and love to share their joy of paddling with you!
Let your curiosity and creativity run wild. Paint, sing, beachcomb, swap long stories with friends new and old, snorkel, learn new kayak techniques, hike to stunning vistas, read, write. The sky is the limit, and the stars are amazing!
Take single or double sea kayaks sit-on-top kayaks, or SUPs to play with from the beach or explore the coast.
You may find Getaways on our Calendar. Mostly we schedule them by request (subject to availability of guide and equipment). We work with you to highlight the activities–-or lack of activity-–that your group prefers. Children as young as 12 years old are welcome on any Getaway. Youngsters down to 4 years old are welcome on private Getaways.
Options may be dictated by weather. Here are some suggestions:
Coronados Volcano Overnight
The closest island to Loreto, Isla Coronados features white sand beaches, good shallow water snorkeling and hiking trails that lead along an ancient marine shelf and up the volcano. The primary beach offers palapas with picnic tables and a composting toilet. The island gets quiet when day tourists head back to town and this is a magical time to be out there. With good fitness, some paddling experience, and good weather, it is possible to paddle around the island in a day. Available in paddle-out option and motor-out option.
Danzante Overnight
Danzante offers much in a small space. Nature hikes, white sand beaches, gravel beaches, delightful snorkeling, dramatic geology, stunning views. Take the Danzante mushroom challenge and see how many mushroom-shaped rocks you can find along the waterfront. Available in paddle-out option and motor-out option.
Punta Coyote Overnight
This is the best option if the wind is a little feisty. The protected beach of Punta Coyote makes snorkeling possible even during winter north winds. It’s one of our favorite places for kayak training because of the juxtaposition of protection and dynamic water. The point gives protection right up to the tip where big swells go rolling past. On calm days, the water is even clearer to see the variety of fish and sea life. The beach here is gravel and stones, which at least do not get in your food or tent so much as sand does. Spectacular view of the Sierra la Giganta mountains and Danzante Island. This is a paddle-out trip.
Isla del Carmen Overnight
Carmen is big, so there are many possibilities! White sand beaches, delightful pebbly beaches, super snorkeling, solitude, fascinating plants, spectacular mountain views, the list goes on! It’s also further away, requiring a motorboat shuttle.
