Take the seldom traveled route and be open to adventure. This journey along the coast north of Loreto features unique rock formations, small fishing villages, and Isla Coronados.

Remoteness protects this area. Because its not in the Loreto Marine Park, spearfishing and shellfish gathering is permitted here. Marcos, excellent waterman that he is, often adds fresh seafood to the menu.

Punta Pulpito, one of the crux moves of the trip, is notorious for its drama, both in sea state and in geology.

Isla Coronados is the final treat along this route. It’s a 16,000 thousand year old volcano cone with white sand beaches off its SW side. Sea lions haul out on the rocks on the NE side, and are accustomed to visits. They like to swoop up below below your kayak and look up with big, round eyes. Feeling ambitious? Tackle the challenging hike up the loose terrain of the volcano for a panoramic reward.
