The spirit of Loreto comes alive when you see it from the water at sunrise. The gilded mission tower, the mountains riding behind in warm tones. Join us for a couple hours in the morning, or in the evening, or take the day and get away to Coronados Island with a kayak or SUP.
Our most popular trips are private tours to the islands. Intimate groups of 2-3 (4 if all are in doubles or on SUP) go with a guide, a panga captain, a lunch, and your sense of adventure!
Whale watching is another special treat in Loreto. Between January and mid-March, the blues, fins, and humpbacks can often be found. Sperm whales come in groups during the summer. Orcas, pilot whales, greys and up to one-third of the world’s species of whales and dolphins have been recorded in the Gulf of California. A drive to see the grey whales in the Pacific lagoons is worth the trip, especially in February. We can arrange whale-watching for you.
The waters off Loreto are exposed to weather. For your safety and enjoyment, we don’t send out trips with a forecast of 20kts or more of wind, and start to consider rescheduling with a forecast of 15kts. The more flexible your schedule, the better your chance of seeing wildlife and enjoying your trip.
All day trips include a guide, National Marine park permits, and basic paddling equipment. Depending on the trip, it may include lunch and a panga (motorboat) to an island. The default water craft for day tours are sit-on-top kayaks and stand-up-paddleboards. You may upgrade to a sea kayak on most trips. Please see the trip descriptions for details, or inquire.
