When the wind is up, Puerto Escondido “Hidden Port” provides a protected venue for paddling and a fine place to splash around from the beach with your family!
Mangroves fringe the water, populated with snowy egrets, great blue heron, night heron, and overhead the osprey and magnificent frigates often soar.
Skirt along cliffs of volcanic “layer cake” to a protected pebbly beach with a spectacular view of the mountains. Snorkel close along the rock wall to see tiny tube bennies with their comical googley eyes, or go deeper for an array of bigger fish. If you’d like to see what large wind-waves feel like, Punta Coyote offers the opportunity to try them out with relatively low consequences, and a capable guide to bring you back safely.
No experience necessary for wind forecast to 15mph. Experience required for wind forecast to 20mph.
