Meet the Crew
The Single biggest factor in your amazing Baja trip is the people, and we’ve got the best.
We love exploring the natural world and sharing it. Our guides have a cumulative total of over a century of experience guiding in the National Marine Park of Loreto, with some individuals living their guiding dream for 25 years. Nobody else comes close!
You’ll feel the difference. Come meet the crew!
Sharon Cano
Ginni Callahan
Founder & Lead Guide
After nearly a decade leading big-group tours, Ginni launched Sea Kayak Baja Mexico in 2007 to do things differently—smaller groups, real connection, more adventure. A British Canoeing 5-star Advanced Sea Leader and ACA Level 5 Instructor, she’s paddled everywhere from Chile to New Zealand and once soloed across the Gulf of California. Ginni’s goal: build a self-sustaining community of Baja paddlesports pros who love the sea as much as she does.
Marcos Simental
Senior Guide
Marcos splits his time between guiding out of Loreto and fishing on the Pacific side of Baja. A seasoned leader since 1998, he’s earned his British Canoeing 4-star Sea Leader and UKCC Coach Level 1 certifications. Friendly, mellow, and resourceful, Marcos knows the sea like an old friend—reading weather, spotting whales, and turning the day’s catch into something delicious. His sharp eye, calm presence, and genuine care for people make him one of our most trusted guides and coaches. When not leading kayak trips, Marcos also runs sport-fishing charters from his panga in San Carlos.
Ramon Arce
Guide + Coach
Born in the Sierra la Giganta, Ramon started as an intern in 2011 and became the guide everyone trusts. He leads trips, fixes boats, drives shuttles, and mentors new staff—all with a contagious laugh. A certified Sea Leader, UKCC Coach Level 1, and SECTUR-approved guide, Ramon is the glue that keeps the team rolling.
Maria Aguilar
Guide + Instructor
Maria grew up among gray whales in San Ignacio Lagoon and brings that same Baja joy to every paddle. A UKCC Coach Level 1, she’s explored most of the Gulf of California and co-runs a scuba school in La Paz when she’s not guiding. Creative, energetic, and always up for a laugh, Maria makes every day on the water feel like a celebration.
Ruben Bastida
Guide + Community Coach
Part scientist, part problem-solver, Ruben has a knack for showing up just when you need him. He leads tours, mentors local paddlers through our community club, and can fix anything from a leaky kayak to a bad mood. Certified Sea Kayak Leader and Sheltered Water Coach with British Canoeing.
Art Noll
Guide + Mechanic Extraordinaire
Explorer, teacher, tinkerer — Art has paddled and fixed his way across Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and beyond. Formerly with Sea Trek, he now guides both kayak and SUP trips for SKBM. Guests love his calm confidence, deep experience, and perfectly tuned gear.
Jano Garibay
Expedition Leader + Manager
Originally from Jalisco, Jano traded volcanoes for turquoise seas when he moved to Baja in 2017. Versatile, creative, and endlessly upbeat, he’s done it all — store support, day tours, expeditions, and now leadership. Since stepping into a management role in 2024, he’s been guiding both people and progress with his trademark kindness and big-picture vision. Jano believes adventure can spark real change — for communities, for nature, and for everyone who joins the journey.
Nikee Fabre
Guide + Paddle Club Leader
Nikee loves life — especially the kind that swims. A former finance student turned sea philosopher, he spent time working in Loreto National Park before trading spreadsheets for salt water. A certified SCUBA divemaster, British Canoeing Sea Kayak Leader, and Sheltered Water Coach, Nikee brings calm confidence and quiet humor to every trip. He now leads the Loreto Paddle Club, helping others discover the same joy that pulled him beneath the waves and into the kayak.
Felipe Moreno
Guide & Marine Enthusiast
Felipe combines his love for marine life with a knack for adventure. Equally at home fishing, paddling, or spotting rays beneath the surface, he’s all about sharing Baja’s wild beauty with a grin. Guests say his energy is as contagious as his stories.
Wuingny Fabre
Guide + Club Leader
Wuingny (pronounced Whitney) came to Loreto at her brother Nikee’s invitation and quickly made it home. A certified veterinarian, she also runs a pet-care and dog-rehabilitation business when she’s not leading paddles. As the Loreto Paddle Club Organizer, she keeps the team on track—coordinating leaders, scheduling activities, and rallying volunteers. Energetic, fun, and fearless in the surf, Wuingny meets every challenge with a grin and unstoppable drive.
Aurea Guzman
Club Leader & Biologist
Aurea is a biologist with a deep love for Baja’s wild side. After working with the Loreto National Park, she joined the conservation group Ovis on Isla del Carmen—where she continues to study and protect local ecosystems. Curious by nature and generous with her knowledge, Aurea has inspired countless paddlers to notice the birds, plants, and small wonders around them. She’s especially gifted with kids, sparking curiosity during our summer programs and Baja for the Curious trips alike.
Estela Gonzalez
Finance + Logistics Manager
Estela is the quiet force that keeps everything running smoothly — and legally. With sharp attention to detail and flawless timing, she juggles permits, payments, taxis, and panga schedules like clockwork. Her forward thinking keeps us solvent; her smile keeps us sane. Come payday, everyone’s especially glad she’s on the team.
Cristy Rodarte
Guest Services & Operations
Cristy is the bright, friendly voice behind your registration and the reason everything runs so smoothly. Originally from Monterrey, she joined our paddling club soon after moving to Loreto—and we quickly realized we couldn’t do without her. With a background in Human Resources and a gift for connecting with people, Cristy keeps the details (and the smiles) flowing behind the scenes.
Samberto Castro
Boat Captain
Born and raised in Ensenada Blanca just south of Loreto, Samberto knows these waters like family—because they are. Growing up in a fishing household gave him a lifelong respect for the sea and an instinct for reading its moods. Friendly, hardworking, and always game for a laugh, Samberto runs the cleanest, best-kept panga in Baja—and he’s proud of it.
