All itineraries are subject to weather, Port closures, and other fun factors intrinsic to “Adventure” tourism.
Day 0. Meet in Loreto for a pre-trip briefing and to fit your equipment.
Day 1. Taxi ride from your hotel to the launch. Learn the secrets behind that magic trick of making a big pile of gear disappear into a kayak. Short paddle to a camping beach. Introduction to desert camping. Afternoon safety skills workshop. Finish your first day on the island with a delicious dinner you wouldn’t believe could be cooked on a beach! Approx. 4 nautical miles.
Day 2. Find the power of your core. Yes, you have it! Everything originates here in kayaking: balance, control, speed, stamina. Paddle a few hours to a different beach for a new view on the world and a chance to practice engaging that core. Approx 6nm.
Day 3. Leave camp set up and explore. Rocky coastlines provide fun maneuvering practice as we weave in and out of Nature’s obstacle course. Add “edging” to your toolbox of maneuvering tricks. Each evening, review the forecast and consider the decisions of the coming day, together as a group. 2-8nm.
Day 4. Sip fresh-brewed hot coffee as the aroma of hot-cooked breakfast wakes up your appetite. Packing is finally getting easier! Are we better at it, or have we just eaten enough food? Cross for an exciting day on Isla del Carmen. Practice navigation and strategies for crossings. Explore a very different landscape of marine terraces and fossils. 6-8nm.
Day 5. Cross back to Danzante. Skills you’re learning are starting to feel more fluid. Recieve custom coaching on the things you want a little more help with. Start learning that roll, perhaps!. 8nm.
Day 6. Let the sun wake you up with a smile. Recognize the magic of a new day and raise a fresh-brewed toast to whatever it has in store! Pack up and consolidate all that great learning in some games along the way for a final few miles of paddling to the take-out. Return to hotels/campground for that well-deserved shower. 6nm.
Day After. Relax in Loreto. Or fly out to tell your friends what an awesome trip you just had, and to plan the next one!
